Ventura Trip

Hollywood 101Today I was in Ventura speaking for our Ventura Church.  I have to go through LA to get Ventura which is normally a drag to drive.  But at 8 AM on a Sunday Morning it’s actually really cool.  It was amazing to see the LA Freeway Vacant.  Check out the picture I snapped.  I actually love driving through Hollywood just because of all the cool landmarks along the way.

When I got to Ventura I had a great service and afterwards decided I wanted to eat at Pinks Famous Hot Dog Stand in Downtown Hollywood.  However when I got there I found a line of about 500 hungry people lined up all the way down the street…  The Chili Dog’s there will stick to your ribs for sure…

What’s your favorite Hollywood Landmark?

Revolution Sunday

hands_raised

Today I got to lead worship at The River Church in Vista, CA for their “YOUTH REVOLUTION SUNDAY”.  Let me just say, that place was hoppin’.  A packed room will do something special to a worship experience…  Maybe because people feel like they’re in unity with the person next to them or maybe it’s just an energy that comes with a crowd.  I’m not certain which it was today but I can promise you this, THOSE PEOPLE AT THE RIVER CAN WORSHIP!

Concert on the Beach? Yeah, sign me up.

Concert on the Beach

Today I got to play with players from 3 different ministries, on a Beach!!!  The River Church Partnered with FBI (An Outreach ministry) to put on an all day event featuring bands from all different kinds of churches and groups with one common goal…  TO SEE PEOPLE COME TO GOD!  The event, I’m told, saw hundreds of people come to Christ throughout the coarse of the day.  So glad I was able to be part of it all!

PS:  This is not what I look like when I do a set…  This was a sound check picture.

My Saturday

Target LeadershipI taught a 3 hour session on technology in the church at Legacy Church in Banning CA.  Talking for 3 hours is harder than you think.  Over all I thought it went really well.  The funny thing about it was I had some technical diffulcties during the set up, but we got it all figured out with time to spare.  You have to love technology where so many things can go wrong!  It’s almost better to know how to troubleshoot technology as opposed to just running it.  I’m doing one more identical session in 2 weeks in Bakersfield.  This session did one thing for me…  Make me want a Mac more.  That seemed to be a popular topic among the group.

Our Night with TAFT (FRONTLINE)

So we’re back from our North Swing up in Wasco and Taft.  We did some planning for camp as well as visit with friends in Wasco, then the next day we were invited to do a camp push at the Frontline Grand Opening of their newly remodeled youth building!  The place was packed and looked great!  They did a great job and we’re honored they invited us to take part on their special night.  Check out the pics below of all their hard work!

Like Ol Times

Jason and KatieI led worship and spoke at Flipside tonight.  Had such a great time with old friends.  This was the place where I got my training in ministry.  It was fun to play with the old team.  For the longest time, when I was Youth Pastor there, the youth worship team was Sheen, “J”, and I.  We were referred to as “The Trio”.  It’s been a while since I’ve led worship and spoke in the same service, so I was pretty tired when I got home.

J and Kate are doing such a great job!  Doing stuff that we never could’ve done with the group.  It’s a completely different YG and rightly so.  The format is fresh, there are new faces and to be honest we’d be mad if we came back and everything was the same as we left it.  THEY ARE PROGRESSING!  Way to go guys!  Keep it up!  We’re proud of you both!

THE MAN

I'm the man... the only man

That’s right, I’m the man…   They Only Man.  I’m the only guy in this building of 250 ladies…  A bit awkward.  Not because there are many ladies all around, It’s only because of some of the things the ladies talk about.  This year was much easier (Tech-wise) for me than last year’s conference.  Last year I was at every min. of every session.  This year I set up PPT, adjusted the board played bass for worship and then went back to my room.  Thank you Ashley and Katie for covering visuals for me!!!  Thanks to Jamie for running music!  Even though you got told to turn it down…

Kylie’s doing a great job as always on worship.  Baby I’ll play bass for you anytime.

I’m at a Ladies Conference?

lift logo Yep.  This week I’ll be helping our our Ladies Department (LIFT) at there annual Lift conference.  Mostly set up and tear down is my role, but I’m also going to help with some music.  I’ll be “Slappin’ the Bass”…  Most of my labor came before the conference.  I created the touch cards, Lanyard fills, Web designs, T-shirts, Power Point, GFX and any promotional stuff for the 2010 conference.  Ky has been busy as well.  She helped Sandi with the stage set up, was in charge of a basket and she’s doing the worship.

So to say the least I’ll play 3 to 5 songs a service then go catch a movie, lay by the pool and maybe even get a work out or two in!

United Concert Recap

Hillsong United

Last night we we’re got to go and hang with friends from NLC and Legacy Banning at the United Concert in SD.  It was really cool to see that many people worship God at the same time.  It’s neat when everybody is focused on singing the songs from the heart and are expecting something from God.  What a concept!

There was really no “bad seat” in the house.  however I saw pictures of Pastor Dan Slagle’s seats on his blog…  His seat beat up my seat and took it’s lunch money.  Check his view here.

The Venue was The Rock Church in SD.  Very cool church.  I had never been there before.  If you missed the concert they said they would be in LA in August.

Hanging with Spiritlife

DadToday Ky and I got to spend time today with the church I grew up in!  They were having there Easter Weekend Celebration and we were invited to be apart of there festivities.  It’s been a year since we announced to Spiritlife that we would be moving on to the job we have now at So Cal Youth.  So it was a treat to be with them.

It was also a B-day surprise for my Dad.  His birthday isn’t until later in the month so it was a good surprise for him.  I’m glad that I was able to hang for the day.

Another thing happened while I was there and that was I got to see Randy.  Now if you don’t know Randy he’s, well Crazy…  And with his new hair style he looked a little like the Villain from The Incredibles.  2 words.  HAIR WIN!

RANDYsyndrome

THE HIGHLIGHT?  RANDY’S HAIR.
